About the open and bounce rates accuracy
Our tracker is useful to provide you with information about your campaign success through the open rate, click rate, bounce rate and unsubscribe.
But sometimes you might notice that the stats from your spreadsheet don't exactly match the reality. That is particularly true for the open rate and bounce rate. For example, someone replied to your email (so they opened it) but the tracker still marks it as 'EMAIL_SENT'. Even if web beacons are being widely used by mail merge tools to track opened emails, it does have some limitations (learn more about our open tracking system).
If you have specific issues with the open rate, please consult the following articles:
For the bounce rate, we are scanning your Gmail box to check the email sender of the bounced messages, and if it was recorded in our system, then we will mark it as 'BOUNCED'. But it can happen that some domains are missing, and we can't record it. If you notice that, please send a screenshot of the bounces that were not recorded by filling the form with 'Bounces not recorded by tracker' as the subject line.
Can I then rely fully on YAMM tracker?
The tracker will give you a good overview of your campaign performance as a whole, but cannot be 100% accurate for each of the emails sent.
Some other reasons can affect the tracker's accuracy in general:
- The data in the tracking report can't be retrieved beyond the last 10 days.
- If you have multiple recipients in the same row of your spreadsheet (or people added as cc or bcc), it creates only one email, and you’ll be able to check if this email was opened but not who (among the recipients) has opened it.
- To get more accurate open tracking, you can ask your subscribers to add your email address to their contact list or choose to display images in their email client.
- If you have used our follow-up option or started another campaign on the same sheet, YAMM will only be able to track the latest campaign. Learn more
