Use our unsubscribe link and get the list of recipients who opted our to your newsletters. YAMM will record this information directly in the tracking tool.
Why should I insert an unsubscribe link?
Yet Another Mail Merge is not an Email service provider (ESP) per say. It is an add-on that sends emails via your Google account. So it is your responsibility to add an unsubscribe link to your emails when needed. As a reminder, this is mandatory for newsletters. If your subscribers are not able to opt-out from your list because you didn't add this link, then your email might be flagged as spam. Learn more
Here is how this unsubscribe feature works in YAMM: When people click on the link from your email, our tracker records this information on your spreadsheet, and you will be able to remove those email addresses from your mailing list to stop sending them emails.
How to use this unsubscribe option?
1. Create your template and add the unsubscribe link
To add an unsubscribe link, simply insert the exact following link at the end of your template:
You can customize the message, as long as it contains this link. For example, you can add: 'Click here to unsubscribe', as indicated in this draft below:
2. Activate the tracker and send your mail merge
Once you have added the link to your email, you must enable the tracker before sending your mail merge (otherwise, we will not able to record who unsubscribed):
Click on 'Send Emails'. Once your recipient receives your email and clicks on your unsubscribe link, he will be redirected to the web app, with the confirmation message 'Unsubscription was successful':
3. Collect all unsubscribers from your spreadsheet and clean your data
On your spreadsheet, our tracking tool will notice you with the 'UNSUBSCRIBED' mention under the 'Merge status' column:
This mention will be updated in real time as long as you keep the tracking report sidebar open. Then all you have to do is to remove those contacts from your database to stop sending them emails. Or you can filter them out for your next emailing campaigns (learn more).
Side note about the unsubscribe feature status
If you have correctly inserted the unsubscribe link in your Gmail draft and activated the tracker, you will be able to see the status 'Enabled' on the advanced features panel (click on '+ Alias, filters, personalized attachments...'):
If you forgot to activate the tracker, we will also warn you in the same advanced interface:
