This article helps you understand how sending emails from another account (like an alias) can affect your email delivery.
Why would I send my campaign from another account?
Sending an email from another account or alias is useful if:
- You don’t want the recipients to see your real email address.
- You want to build brand consistency through a personalized domain name of your alias.
- Impersonify a customer profile close to your real customers to attract and retain them.
Gmail gives you the option to send your email from your real account or an alias.
Why are my emails not delivered when I use an alias?
Within YAMM, we reuse this option in Gmail to let you send your mail merge from another account.
warning However, sending from another account can impact your email deliverability!
Your emails may not be delivered to your recipients through Gmail servers if:
- You spoofed your recipients, who can easily report your email as phishing. Your recipient's servers can then block your emails for future campaigns.
- You sent too many spams emails. Read more on the following article: What is spam? How is your email marked as spam?
How to make sure my emails are correctly delivered?
Sending from an alias is not strictly prohibited, but you should use the alias feature wisely. This requires in-depth reflection for selecting an appropriate domain name:
- Use the domain name that reflects your company/organization's activity
- Avoid using a spammy name (example: makefastcash.com). Otherwise, this can trigger spam filters, and your emails won’t be delivered
- Always include an unsubscribe link into your email, so that the recipients don’t have to click on the spam button, reducing thus your bounce rate
