All you need to know about the number of opens, clicks, bounces and unsubscribes to assess your campaign performance. Read this article to fully understand what each metric means.
Clickable metrics from the tracking report
If you click on each tile from the sidebar, YAMM will automatically filter the corresponding rows. You will then be able to see at a glance who opened your emails, clicked etc. and can better redefine your target if, for example, you want to send a follow-up campaign.
To remove the filters, simply click the 'sent' tile again from the YAMM tracking sidebar (or the click the Filters' icon from Google Sheets:
Besides, if you hover over or click on a cell under the 'Merge status' column, you'll find a little note which indicates when the action has been done. On the sidebar, more details will be provided on the merge status:
A pie chart for an easy access to all your stats
To make it easier for you to read the information from the tracking report, all your campaign stats are summarized in a pie chart. The total of each part of this pie matches the number of email sent from your spreadsheet.
Please read the following sections to understand how each metric is calculated.
Unopened emails stand for all emails that have just been sent out through YAMM and that reached your recipients' inbox, without any further action from your recipients.
They are marked as 'EMAIL_SENT' under the 'Merge status' column.
This is the trickiest part of the pie: You will probably notice that the number of emails opened indicated in the tile and green bar is not the same as the one from the pie.
In our following example, 6 emails have been marked as 'opened' in the tile, while only 2 have been marked as such in the graph:
This is because the 6 emails opened from the tile is the sum of all the emails that have been opened, clicked, and unsubscribes, while the 2 emails opened from the pie is just the emails that have been opened (without any other action from the recipients).
You can retrieve the total of the emails opened (6) by adding up all the 'Opened' (2), 'Opened & clicked' (3) and 'Opened & unsubscribed' (1) part of the graph.
They are respectively marked as 'EMAIL_OPENED', 'EMAIL_CLICKED' and 'UNSUBSCRIBED' under the 'Merge status' column.
Please consult this article to know how we track opened emails.
'Opened & clicked' means that your recipients opened your emails, then clicked on at least one link from your message. If they clicked on several links, or clicked several times on the same link, it will be recorded as 1 click by the tracker (learn more about click tracking).
These are marked as 'EMAIL_CLICKED' under the 'Merge status' column.
'Opened & unsubscribed' means that your recipients opened your emails, then clicked on the unsubscribe link from your message. Check out this documentation to learn how to insert an unsubscribe link.
They are marked as 'UNSUBSCRIBED' under the 'Merge status' column.
Unlike unopened emails, bounced emails are all emails that came back to your inbox because they never reached your recipients' for different reasons (learn more about bounces).
They are marked as 'BOUNCED' under the 'Merge status' column.
